Mary Hamilton
March 26, 2011

Come join with us as we expand our understanding of ourselves through storytelling, discussion, inquiry, relaxation and soul expression through the expressive arts. Using the ancient mythic story of Demeter as a template, we will track our initiation into womanhood.  Under Mary's skillful guidance we'll playfully explore the fundamental and vibrant patterning of our inner mother, daughter, and crone aspects.  Mothering our souls into life we'll nurture our inherent capacity to grow into wise women capable of embodying the dynamic connection between nature and spirit.

What does it mean to grow up as a woman?  We are all daughters. We mother new life, sometimes in the form of children, other times, in the form of a career, creative ideas or a new relationship. We also mother our souls into life.  And we have an inherent capacity to grow into wise women capable of embodying the dynamic connection between nature and spirit.

Using the ancient mythic story of Demeter as a template, we will track our initiation into womanhood.  We will playfully explore the fundamental and vibrant patterning of our inner mother, daughter, and crone aspects.  How do we separate from our individual mothers and the collective mother images? What is the energy required for modern women to shift from the symbiotic relationship of the mother-daughter dyad to a mature differentiate self, capable of living an authentic life of soul?

And what about the dark side of the feminine, those devouring, angry and sometimes depressed part of us no one wants to encounter?  What do we do with these energies when they raise their voices in us as mothers, daughters and elderly women? Come join with us as we expand our understanding of ourselves through storytelling, listening to dream symbols, discussion, inquiry, relaxation and soul expression through the expressive arts.

This workshop material is informed by Mary's association with Jungian Analyst Marion Woodman and Voice Specialist Ann Skinner in the creation of the BodySoul curriculum that honors the creative powers of the unconscious.
