Imbolc BodyDreaming™ – Brigit and the Rites of Spring: A BodySoul Workshop

Marian Dunlea assisted by Masako Machizawa, M.D.
February 21-22, 2015

“If he/she can be encouraged to play with the imagery, the energy locked (frozen) in the shadow will emerge, bringing with it the buried creative fire.”    Marion Woodman

We invite you to join us for a weekend of BodyDreaming™ as we explore the new energy quickening in our psyches’ dreams, images, movements and creative expressions at Imbolc. Imbolc – ‘parturition’ – the Ewe’s milk, marks the beginning of Spring in the Celtic tradition. Brigit, the triple goddess and latter day Christian Saint, stands at the threshold of Spring, invoking the archetypal energies of healing, the alchemical fire of smithcraft, and the creative arts of poetry. At Einsiedeln, the place of pilgrimage to the Black Madonna, we will connect to the Feminine soul of old Europe, awakening ancestral memories of Imbolc.

Using the BodyDreaming™ approach, we will attune ourselves to the wisdom of the body, the somatic unconscious. We will focus on establishing the body’s natural harmonic rhythm to support the images arising from the cellular depths at this time of Imbolc. This workshop will provide a rich experience of BodySoul work.

Masako Machizawa, M.D., is a psychosomaticist in Japan. She is also a Jungian analyst who graduated from the Jung Institute in Zurich. She currently works as a Jungian analyst in private practice in Tokyo, while practicing as a psychosomaticist in a hospital.

Samhain BodyDreaming™ in Einsiedeln, Switzerland

Marian Dunlea
October 31-November 1, 2014

In the Celtic tradition, Samhain marks the beginning of the New Year on November 1st. The Cailleach, the Old Hag of Winter, makes her descent into the Underworld to incubate the seeds of the new life that will emerge at Imbolc, the Celtic spring. In this workshop we will attune ourselves to the ‘underworld’ of the body, the somatic unconscious. We will focus on establishing the body’s natural harmonic rhythm by regulating cycles of arousal, and in this way support the incubation of the images arising from the cellular depths.

In this creative and embodied approach we will learn practical skills for dealing with threshold moments generated by the autonomic nervous system. These moments of activation and/or complexes may trigger states of hyper-arousal and dissociation in ourselves and in our clients. I will demonstrate our capacity to regulate and titrate these moments using right hemisphere interventions, including orienting, movement, gesture, voice, art, and dream work. This workshop will provide a rich and deep introduction to BodySoul work.

Samhain BodyDreaming and Red Clay Revealings with Marian Dunlea and Wendy Bratherton

Marian Dunlea and Wendy Bratherton
November 22-24, 2013

Celtic New Year begins on November 1st when the Cailleach, the Old Hag of Winter, makes her descent into the Underworld to incubate the seeds of the new life that will emerge at Imbolc, the Celtic spring. In this year’s workshop Marian and Wendy will explore working with energy – both inner and outer energy and energy in the matter of red clay.

Using a combination of Qigong and Craniosacral work we will deepen into our body container to see how energy is moving in us and between us at this time in the year’s cycle. Through the bodywork we will prepare to meet a body of “matter” i.e. a piece of clay and make contact with the underworld 艾福瑞 through touching the clay. When we engage with the nature of clay “some thing” or “new seeds” can arise spontaneously from deep within the cells of the body. These begin to take form in the clay and may surprise us. The Cailleach/Crone holds the changes at this threshold time in the incubating darkness.

BodyDreaming is a way of working with dreams and images that tracks the pathways in the body where the energy of the dream is held. It invites us into the place of healing between body and dream, where old traumas, symptoms and complexes hold fast in the neural pathways of the body. When supported the body may be ready to reveal the mystery of the dream image and open to new possibilities and wholeness.

Marian Dunlea has developed BodyDreaming from her many years experience in private practice and facilitating workshops. This approach brings together her training as a Jungian Analyst, BodySoul Rhythms® Workshop Facilitator, and her more recent training in Somatic Experiencing, Peter Levine’s approach to trauma.

Flow as an Embodied Reality

Marian Dunlea and Janice Rous
September 5-8, 2013

In this workshop, Janice Rous will join me from the USA in the exploration of Flow as an embodied movement. This process is one of listening to expansion and restriction, flow and resistance, movement and stillness. In this dance of the opposites, we will find where the breath begins and ends, where sound opens freely from its root and where energy is released to express our core vitality. We invite you into this dance of stillness, light, breath and balance. We will listen to our bodies’ dreamings and paint the energies that are awakening.

Janice writes: From the time I was a small child I made sense of my world through dance improvisation. Now at 62 years, I am still exploring my world through movement but have added painting as my main channel of self expression. When I begin a canvas which is almost always larger than my body I wonder how do I begin? From the moment I lay down my first stroke of color I enter into a dance of color and form and open to a source that speaks through me. I layer color on color until something speaks to me. It is akin to how I do my healing work which I call BODY DIALOGUE.

At the heart of it all is gratitude and celebration of life.

Marian writes: BodyDreaming is a way of working with dreams and images, that I have developed which tracks the pathways in the body where the energy of the dream is held.
