We will explore movement, sound, and simple art to consciously embody and express the energy of your dream symbols. Psyche/Body Connection: A BodySoul Intensive in Switzerland

Judith Harris, Dale Genge, and Sheila Langston
Assistant Instructors:

Ursula Kuchler Zimmermann and Vernessa Riley-Foelix

September 5-12, 2010

This program is based on Marion Woodman’s BodySoul work and the psychology of C.G. Jung. We combine lecture and discussion with experiential body and voice work in an intensive format. Jung’s concept of the psyche/body connection is the core of the work we undertake to deepen our understanding of this paradigm. Through individual dream imagery and individual body responses, we will experience image as the connector between body and soul. Participants will make plaster masks to deepen this process. The focus will be on the natural development of the conscious feminine and its relationship to the masculine in each individual.

While staying in a beautiful and natural setting, we will work individually and together, honoring the uniqueness of each person. Each participant will listen to her own soul in her body and honor its needs, hopes, and creativity.

Prerequisites:

Open to women with at least 50 hours Jungian analysis/therapy and 50 hours active bodywork (such as yoga, tai chi, Authentic Movement, Feldenkrais, 5Rhythms – bodywork that uses imagery and/or conscious attention), or consent of instructor.

The Soul’s Journey in Dream and Body: A BodySoul Intensive in Ireland

Marian Dunlea, Sheila Langston, and Sue Congram
June 8-15, 2010

In the midst of an evocative, natural setting, we will engage in a depth process, listening to the soul as it expresses itself in the body and in dream. The Irish landscape provides a powerful resonance to mirror the soul’s journey. We will explore the psyche-soma connection in a creative and playful spirit, through dream embodiment, movement, voice, mask, and artwork. Jungian psychology provides our map to the dream world and the unconscious as we incorporate Marion Woodman’s approach to redeeming the feminine. An Irish fairy tale will provide the metaphor, illuminating our journey.

Over the past 6 years, this gathering has welcomed a wonderful mix of North American, Irish, European, and British women, which has been rich and stimulating for all. We will be at Dunderry Lodge just a few miles from Tara, the ancient mythological site, steeped in myth and legend. Dunderry Lodge is a beautifully restored old residence overlooking a lake, situated in the historic Boyne Valley, famous for its 5,000-year-old Neolithic site. It is surrounded by 23 acres of parkland, offering participants many inviting meanderings under its enormous, ancient chestnuts, oaks, and beech trees.

Body Soul Sundays

Marlene Schiwy
September 26, 2010-May 1, 2011

One Sunday a month  from 2 to 6 pm through May 2011. (First and final session will be from 2 to 8 pm.)

Body Soul Sundays is an intensive monthly program of immersion in the mysteries of the deep feminine. Women today do not have the ancient Eleusinian or Dionysian mystery rites to support us as we ripen into life.

In our longing for eternal youth, we may miss the beauty of our soul’s journey. We have no time for the soulwork required of us, no time to feel the archetypal energies of Mother, Virgin, and Crone ripple through our bodies and souls. Sometimes we may feel that we are full of unlived life.

Through myth and ritual, dreamwork and writing, music and movement, art and voice work, we will enter the realm of soul-making. Readings from Jung will provide a solid grounding for our experiential work, and films on Marion Woodman will bring her Crone presence into the group. Our final meeting will conclude with a ritual feast.

* Please Note: Each participant is asked to make a commitment to her own ongoing soulwork, whether through journal writing, art, movement, music, or other creative expression. Guidance will be offered according to each month’s focus, and printed handouts will be available. It is important that the process of creative gestation continues between meetings and that the soul is nurtured.

Body Dreaming

Marian Dunlea
September 24-26, 2010

The Body Dreaming approach to dream work has been developed by Marian Dunlea during many years of teaching Bodysoul work both in small groups and BodySoul intensives. Marian’s approach integrates her BodySoul Rhythms® training with more recent training in Somatic Experiencing, Peter Levine’s approach to trauma.

Marian writes: “In the Body Dreaming workshop we build the temenos for the work by paying attention to both our individual body responses and the container of the group wherein the dream energy is held, mirrored and enfleshed. By sensing the resonance of our dream images in our bodies we can track psyche’s energy and as Jung and Marion Woodman teach us, see where that energy wants to go."

Working in this way within the holding container of the group, our dreams are given ground in our bodies and we can have an embodied sense of the direction in which the new Soul, Psyche energy may wish to express itself”.
