Dreams, Desire, and Delight: A Body Soul Writing Retreat for Women

Marlene Schiwy
October 23-27, 2015

“Let your body become the music. Let her sing. Let your pen walk in the twilight between consciousness and unconscious. There, it will find such images, such ideas as you could never find.”
Marion Woodman, Coming Home to Myself

You are invited to join Marlene for a Five-Day Residential Body Soul Writing Retreat for women in October.

Loon Lake Lodge and Retreat Centre is a beautiful oasis of peace and tranquility in Maple Ridge, an hour’s drive from Vancouver. Come and sink into your own writing and creative process. A variety of new writing prompts and guided meditations, the gentle support and stimulation of the group, the quiet beauty of the setting and delicious food, and abundant spaciousness for reverie and reflection will nourish your body and soul.

Our daily lives are often so rushed and busy that we lose touch with our own depths.

The retreat will provide freedom to move, dream, and write according to your own rhythm. In a sacred circle of women, we will write and share, meditate and move, dance and draw, ripen and deepen, laugh and weep, as we explore our stories with wild and audacious abandon. We will invite, attend, and dance our stories and poems onto the page as mirrors of our soul’s journey. If you are involved in an ongoing writing project, this retreat offers the opportunity to immerse yourself and carry it forward.

Our workshop sessions will take place in a large, beautiful room overlooking the lake. There will also be unscheduled time to relax and write, walk around the lake, and enjoy a cup of tea and conversation with other women in the group. Evenings will include open readings, discussion of the writing process, and perhaps a DVD or two. If time permits, I may share excerpts from my own current book manuscript.

Join us for this time of nourishing retreat, creative exploration, and soulful companionship. Please bring a large journal or notebook, a dream you are curious about, a yoga mat, comfortable clothes to move in, and a dancing skirt, just in case!

The all-inclusive program fee includes five days/ four nights in Koerner Lodge, Loon Lake’s luxury accommodation. Lovely single rooms with private bathrooms and amenities, all meals and snacks, workshop tuition and materials, and several surprises. Bring your hopes and dreams, your imagination and curiosity, and an open heart and mind. I promise you will leave feeling restored, rejuvenated, and inspired!

In early October Marlene will send an email to registered participants. At that time we can discuss possible carpooling to Loon Lake Retreat Centre from Vancouver.

October 23-27, 2015, 3 pm Friday-1 pm Tuesday

Ideally participants will have taken a course or workshop with Marlene before. If space permits, anyone new may contact her to arrange an individual consultation hour ($150) in lieu of a previous course or workshop.

Walking the Tightrope: The Jung-Nietzsche Seminars as Taught by Marion Woodman-Seminar 2

Marian Dunlea, Sheila Langston and Patricia Llosa
April 9-12, 2015

A Marion Woodman Foundation Seminar in cooperation with the European Ongoing Professional Development Group

Body work, like dream work, is soul work. Body and dream illuminate the point where spirit and matter touch and do not touch”   Marion Woodman

In this, our second Woodman Nietzsche Seminar, we will continue to delve into Jung’s Nietzsche seminars as well as Marion Woodman’s teachings from the Walking the Tightrope study guide. We will study and discuss these written sources and continue the process of integrating the text with the voice and body work.

Our exploration of shadow and archetype will expand to include the metaphors of the eagle and the snake, the transformational sequence of the camel, lion and child as well as the development from “thou shalt” to “I will” in the individuation process. The afternoon work will focus on the Dance of Three exercise as we explore the triad of Mover, Mirror and Container together, pursuing the question of the relationship between body and psyche in the Nietzsche seminars.

This workshop is open to anyone who is a member of ALC or has completed 3 BodySoul Intensives with the Marion Woodman Foundation. This workshop also qualifies as a make-up seminar for Leadership Training Program Participants seeking to complete their Leadership Training. If you have questions regarding qualifications and/or exceptions, please contact the Marion Woodman Foundation Program Office at office@mwoodmanfoundation.org

Reclaiming Our Lives, Reclaiming Our Earth

Janice Steiber Rous, Jean Esther and Polly Howells
April 14-19, 2015

Inspired by the tradition of BodySoul Rhythms® work as developed by Marion Woodman, Mary Hamilton and Ann Skinner, this workshop has a strong base in C.G. Jung. We will share our dreams, silent meditation, integrated body awareness practices, expressive arts, play, and the world of nature.

In our 2015 retreat, we will return to the Sumerian myth of Inanna, Queen of Heaven and Earth, the oldest myth in Western civilization. We call on this ancient story to guide us while our world undergoes such enormous, destabilizing change. As we join one another in Inanna’s timeless descent, we will identify what we need to release in order to be more whole, more human, and more responsible in these trying times. We invite you to join us in the majestic beauty of the Berkshire where, in early spring, we will be held as a group of women in the wisdom and love that will naturally emerge.

Discovering the Unlived Life Through Dreams and Mask Work

Sue Congram and Marian Dunlea
June 9-14, 2015

“Change is the essence of life. Be willing to surrender what you are for what you could become” Carl Gustav Jung

This workshop uses dream work and active imagination, body and voice work, mask and art to offer reflective space to explore the as yet ‘unlived life’, the potential to become who we are meant to be.

Skites is beautifully situated and ideally suited to this kind of exploration. We will work under a canopy of trees, overlooking the sea, supported by the beauty of nature. There we will awaken to our body’s wisdom, listen to our dreams and give expression to this new energy in the creation of a mask. We will draw on the teachings of Marion Woodman and the BodySoul work in conjunction with Jungian and Gestalt theory.

This workshop is for:
· Men and women who are engaged in their own personal work and want to inquire deeper
· People who have worked with masks and want to explore more fully the relationship between mask work and dreams
· People who are professionally engaged in working with the development of others and interested in learning about the process of ‘active imagination’ using dreams, art, body, voice and mask work
· Couples have benefitted enormously from attending this workshop together, however this is not an event for remedial work on relationships that are breaking down, but an opportunity for deepening your own self understanding in a shared space.

June 9-14, 2015, Tuesday 6 pm-Sunday 2 pm.

How to Register:

Contact Sue Congram at http://www.suecongram.co.uk or Marian Dunlea at http://www.mariandunlea.com
