“There’s a point at which one must start caring
Where one fixes one’s vision on high
Don a mantle of vision and daring
Tis where the water meets the sky.”
– David Whalen

The pathway toward wholeness requires a consciousness of both the feminine and the masculine. How do these energies move both in the body and in the psyche? With a focus on the inner relationship between the feminine and the masculine in this intensive, we will explore how these opposites move us and guide us both in the outer world, and in our relationships.
We will work with dreams, myth, mask-making, the body, voice and art. Through these varied means, we will discover the lived experience of these forces of the feminine and the masculine.  We will meet the changing faces of the archetypes in each of us, in our dreams, in our art, and in our bodies.  What is the feminine and masculine in the voice, what different movements convey expression from both partners? How does one support the other?  How are they culturally viewed and how has that shaped each of us as we are today?
The myth of Amor and Psyche will provide us with a mirror and a map.  In Psyche, we see a heroine who has to complete a series ofimpossible tasks on her quest for wholeness. We will consider these tasks in the light of the feminine and masculine energies within us.  Discovering how these energies meet and part in the body, as well as in the psyche, brings us towards the possibility of a new partnership in the dance between the two.

This program is a residential workshop.

Location: Dunderry Park, Dunderry, County Meath, Ireland
Location Description:

Dunderry Park in Dunderry, County Meath, is a completely restored 200 year-old Georgian residence. It is surrounded by 25 acres of wooded parkland in a peaceful country setting with lakeside and woodland walks. It is approximately 30 miles north of Dublin in the historic Boyne Valley, famous for the ancient Hill of Tara and the Paleolithic sites of New Grange, Knowth, and Lough Crew. At Boyne Valley the veil between the worlds is thin. We are among mounds, barrows, raths, standing stones, wells, and ancient groves. This will be a magical time, so close to Tara, the story center of Ireland.

Please bring comfortable, loose clothing. Dress will be very casual. We often go from active warm ups to lying still for more meditative work and body temperatures change. The weather should be lovely, but variable (possibly cool), and it could rain. Please bring layered, warm clothing, rain gear (rainproof from head to toe) outerwear, and good walking shoes or boots for hikes around the estate. The weather can be changeable, so layered clothing is best. If you are especially sensitive to the cold, you might bring a hot water bottle. The beds have duvets, which should be adequate. You will need to bring your own towel(s).

Since we work with art materials, you may want to bring an old shirt to protect your clothing. In addition to your personal toiletries, please bring soft-soled shoes or slippers for use in the house. A torch (flashlight) is also suggested. You may also want to wear something festive for the last ritual evening.

Please bring your journal and other creative tools you enjoy using. You might consider bringing a musical instrument, and please do bring personal items for the altar for blessing during the week. Note: There is only one hair dryer at the facility for lending. If you bring your own from outside Europe, an international power converter will be required. (Ireland is on a different power source than the US.)

[xa_acc style=”xa-default” ][xa_slide title=”Accomodations” openclose=”” icon=”bed”]

The accommodations are beautifully decorated rooms, three or four beds to a room and most have a private bathroom. Depending on enrollment, two to three women will be assigned to each room. The rooms are large and furnished to accommodate this many participants in each. In previous programs held at Dunderry, up to four women sharing a room has worked well. If it is possible to assign fewer to a room, we will do so. However, no single rooms are available.

The facility is not equipped with wireless Internet access. There is an office computer that is available on a limited basis.

Air Travel
Book your flight into Dublin Airport. From the Airport, you can travel to Dunderry Park either by taxi or bus (see below).

Deirdre’s Taxi Service, Navan
We highly recommend using Deirdre’s Taxi service – we have found they are the most economical and service oriented. They are available for pick up either from the Airport or from Navan. Please contact Deirdre’s Taxi Service to make your reservation IN ADVANCE to arriving in Ireland and discuss your schedule, location and which Terminal you will be arriving at. We suggest you try to coordinate your arrival time with other participants to be able to share the group rate. If you are arriving a few days early before the program begins, you can still have Deirdre’s arrange to take you Dunderry Park when you are ready – you need to coordinate that with them directly.

If calling from outside of Ireland call: 011 353 86 863 6157. Within Ireland: 00 353 086 863 6157 or email lynessandlyness@gmail.com. Discuss the rate at the time of booking. We understand that other taxis at the Airport are more expensive.
