"Whatever you experience outside the body in a dream for instance is not experienced unless you take it into the body, because the body means the here and now." – C.G. Jung
BodyDreaming is a way of working with dreams and images that tracks the pathways in the body where the energy of the dream is held. It invites us into the place of healing between body and dream, where old traumas, symptoms and complexes hold fast in the neural pathways of the body. This work offers possibilities for change. In finding the place in the body that holds the 'still point', a resource is accessed. This is key in enabling us to engage with the shadow in the body. Working between the image and the body, energy begins to shift and a 'new third' reveals itself, creating new neural pathways.
"When we bring images from our dreams, movement, visualization, drawing, and other forms of creative expression into consciousness in our bodies, we can experience the transformative power of the body." – Marion Woodman
Marian Dunlea has developed BodyDreaming from her many years in private practice and facilitating workshops. It brings together her training as a Jungian Analyst, BodySoul Rhythms® work, and more recent training in Somatic Experiencing, Peter Levine's approach to trauma.
Wendy writes about the work she will present on Alchemy:
"During the workshop I will show the 22 plates from the 1582 illuminated manuscript, The Splendor Solis, which is in the British Library. This amazing series of pictures graphically denotes the alchemical process of the 'objective' psyche. I researched it about 12 years ago when writing a paper about the process of transformation of the psyche in a borderline patient. Working with him taught me about the alchemical process which Jung describes. Many of the plates of The Splendor Solis matched the paintings, dreams and drawings he produced. Synchronistically, just after I had finished the paper, J. Henderson and D. Sherwood produced a book titled Transformation of the Psyche-the Symbolic Alchemy of the Splendor Solis. It is well worth the read!"
Marian and Wendy have co-facilitated several Body Dreaming Workshops. This is the 8th module of the European On-Going Professional Development Group which is an affiliated program of the Marion Woodman Foundation.
