A Two Day Body Soul Writing Intensive – Gypsies, Nomads, and Wild Women: Exploring the Others Within Us

Marlene Schiwy

October 18, 2018 - October 19, 2018

Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

The archetypal gypsy is an image of passion and mystery, of yearning and exile, of recklessness and resilience. Her ground note is nastos, an endless longing for home, for an archetypal abode of comfort and belonging whose reality is palpable even while we know there is no such place on earth. (from Gypsy Fugue: An Archetypal Memoir)

We are all wanderers on this earth. Our hearts are full of wonder, and our souls are deep with dreams.     ∼  Gypsy Proverb

During this Body Soul Writing workshop we will enter the landscape of the archetypal Gypsy and her tribe. Through writing and discussion, movement and dance, guided meditation and dreams, we will welcome the inner Gypsy and Wild Woman, Nomad and Outcast, and other renegade energies alive in our bodies and souls. Come join us as we explore the Others within and invite their  energy onto the page.

Please read Gypsy Fugue we begin and come prepared to explore the book’s themes more deeply as they relate to your own story. In particular, make note of several passages that speak to you. I will share some of the material that did not make it into the book and excerpts of my gypsy journal.

Bring a large journal or notebook and any dreams you feel might be relevant. Paper and art supplies will be provided.
