Sandplay in Switzerland: A Two-Week Training Intensive for Professionals

Patty Flowers and Judy Zappacosta
August 6-20, 2011

Join us for an opportunity to study and work in depth with Sandplay, imagery, and your own creative process. Travel to Switzerland, stay in a lovely, countryside conference center surrounded by the Swiss Alps, and live for two weeks with international master teachers and a community of like-minded souls.

This unique, intensive course is designed for professional therapists, psychologists, counselors, and educators who use Sandplay in their work and for those in training to do so. Participants have the opportunity to learn from a special group of instructors not usually accessible. Each instructor has many years training in the Kalffian theory and practice of Sandplay in addition to extensive professional, clinical, and teaching experience.

The two-week format provides the opportunity to study and work in a depth not attainable in short courses. By traveling to Switzerland, we leave behind our everyday responsibilities, and immerse ourselves deeply in Sandplay. Being in a group of colleagues who share this work provides community and stimulation. Learning about Sandplay in the environment where it was developed creates a connection to the source. Switzerland itself is beautiful, magical, and enticing.

The program includes in-depth case presentations by faculty, soul painting workshops, opportuity for participants to present their own work, BodySoul work with dreams, movement, creative expression, and ritual. We will visit the sacred Black Madonna at the nearby cathedral that holds her chapel. An optional trip into the mountains to experience the glory of the Swiss Alps is also offered.

Martin Kalff, Sabine Hayoz-Kalff, and Maria Kendler are additional faculty.

The program is held in Einsiedeln, Switzerland. The closest airport is Zurich; trains run regularly from the Zurich airport to Einsiedeln (about an hour’s trip). Our conference center is located in a quiet, natural environment, with walking trails in the forest, to a nearby lake, and to the town. Einsiedeln is a pilgrimage center with an interesting history, surrounded by a beautiful, typically Swiss countryside.

Pre-Conference Workshop
A pre-conference workshop, In the Footsteps of C.G. Jung – An Introduction to Zurich and Switzerland, will be held before the program, August 3-6, 2011. Here participants have the chance to explore the area where both Dora Kalff and Carl Jung lived and worked, see some of the most interesting sites in Zurich, relax into the natural beauty of the area, and acclimate to the environment before the intensive Sandplay training begins. More details will be available to those who enroll in Sandplay in Switzerland.
The total program offers an experience of a lifetime and we hope you will join us!
